The Star Network

Molly Fazakerley

The star network works by having a group of computers connected in the shape of a star.

It is very reliable and if one device fails the rest will carry on. No data collisions can occur.

It is very expensive to install and if a switch fails then the whole system will have no internet connection.

The data passes through along the wire that is connected to the other computers. The data can then be passed on to any computer as long as it is connected to the other one. Here is a diagram to help you understand.
