RRHS - Update Week of 8/31
Bell Schedule
Materials Distribution
RRHS will conduct a material pick up schedule in two phases.
Fine Arts
Rock Ridge students participating in an instrumental performing arts class such as band, guitar, or orchestra will have an instrument and/or music pick-up on Tuesday, September 1 from 4-6 PM. This will be conducted using front of the school, curb-side pick up from teachers utilizing strict safety measures.
This will allow students that are utilizing school owned instruments to pick them up before the start of the school year and for sheet music to be distributed so that students are ready to play on day one!
Please contact your individual music teacher with any other additional questions.

Huge thanks to Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Barnes and George Mason University for putting on this weeks “College Jump Start” program. Over 90 seniors got “hands on” advice(virtually) and started their college applications through this workshop. In case you missed it here is the presentation link https://www.lcps.org/cms/lib/VA01000195/Centricity/Domain/17255/College%20Jump%20Start%20%20August%202020.pdf
Seniors if you missed any of the workshops this summer you can find the webinars here https://sites.google.com/lcps.org/rrhsclass2021/home This link is where you can find all your important senior information.
Hotspot Information
If you would like to request a mobile internet hotspot, please email Nevein.Zalenski@lcps.org
You must be an LCPS student to be eligible to request a device.
We must evaluate the need with multiple data points to ensure that devices are not distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, but rather to the students with the greatest needs first.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a hotspot will be provided.
Flight Day 9/3
RRHS Math!
Our Math teachers can’t wait to see you on Flight Day! As you are taking inventory of the school supplies in your home, if you come across a TI-84 calculator that is no longer needed by your family, we’d appreciate the donation! Instructions for donating calculators on an upcoming Materials Collection and Distribution day will be coming soon. Our AP Calculus students will put those TI-84s to good use this year!
Schoology for Parents
Forwarded from LCPS - Department of Instruction
Loudoun County Public Schools is now using Schoology, an integrated learning management solution that provides one-stop access to everything students need for their learning. Schoology allows students, parents, and teachers to connect and engage, whether learning in school or at a distance. Schoology will be used in all classrooms to ensure that students can access the resources they need for class and provide families the access they need to support their children. You can learn more about using your parent Schoology account by accessing the Parent Schoology Experience. Follow the attached directions to login and enroll.
Virtual First Day Folders
Sent from LCPS on 8/26
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, August 28, families will be able to sign into ParentVUE on the Loudoun County Public Schools website (not the mobile app) to complete the Online Verification process as part of LCPS’ Virtual First Day initiative. This process is required for families to review and update important information about their students as we begin the 2020-21 school year. LCPS requires families complete the Online Verification process for their students no later than Friday, September 25. For more information on the Online Verification process, please visit this webpage. Once families complete the Online Verification process, they will be able to view student schedules in ParentVUE. If families have questions about this process, they can reach out to school support staff or to parentvuesupport@lcps.org.
Virtual First Day saves time, promotes accuracy and reduces the amount of paper and copying generated by paper “first day folders” in the past. This process is especially important this year as LCPS opens in the 100 percent distance learning environment.
Through Virtual First Day, parents will find a number of important resources, including:
- School Calendar
- COVID Mitigation Documents
- Student Rights and Responsibilities
- Parent Resources
- Guide and Directory to the LCPS division
- Program of Studies for Secondary Students
- Free and Reduced Lunch Application
- McKinney-Vento Application
- Insurance Information
- LCPS Mobile App Details
LCPS Return to School
Please see the link below to the lin sent from Dr. Williams with details of student participation in a DL environment, attendance standards, grading and assessment, etc. This document updates and is modified based on new guidelines.

School Nurse Information
From the Nurse at RRH
Although school will be virtual for the beginning of this school year I am asking that you provide Health Action Plans and medication forms to the health office beginning on Tuesday. I will be in the Health office Tuesday September 1 through Thursday September 3, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Please email me at robyn.wisti@lcps.org to set up an appointment. I ask that you call the health office, 703-996-2106, upon your arrival at school and I will let you know when you can enter the building.
Medication, to be kept in the health office, is normally provided at the same time forms are dropped off however, due to the special circumstances this year, we are not requiring medication until your student returns to school. If you would like to drop medication off next week it will be secured in the health office.
If my office hours do not work for you, please contact me via email, robyn.wisti@lcps.org and we can set up a time that works best for you.
