Reading
This week in Reader's Workshop, we continued to research topics focusing on our passions and understanding informational texts. Next week we'll begin MAP testing in Reading.
Writing
This week in Writer's Workshop, students continued perfecting their persuasive writing skills. We are continuing to perfect our writing abilities by finding creative topics to persuade our classmates.
Math
In preparation for MAP Testing next week, students shared their Math Seminars with their classmates. This allowed students to get exposed to concepts such as volume, coordinate graphs, unit rate, etc. I am proud of the hard work students put into these presentations.
Next week Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent Math MAP testing. Please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast and brings a snack to school.

Science
Students discovered that a mixture's mass is the same as the sum of it's parts. In addition, students were challenged to find a way to separate their mixture of gravel, powder, and salt! It was fascinating to see how each lab group tackled this. Take a look at the video above for highlights.
This Week's Mystery Word
Perseverance + Determination = Success
