GREAT NEWS!!!
For the 2020-2021 School year, Greenwood EL won a $10, 000 grant for PE that was written by PE Coach- Kim Lewis and Librarian-Melissa Summerford.
We will soon be presented this reward in the month of September. The original date of the presentation was going to be Sept. 8 but they are changing the check and banner for us to say McCalla . We are so excited about this accomplishment to help provide materials for our students to have more opportunities to be exposed to more sports as we purchase more equipment. Our focus is to teach the importance of a healthy life through exercise, eating healthy, and cooperative play with peers.
Awesome job teachers!!!

COVID Weekly Reminder....
McCalla school parents,
This letter is a weekly reminder that your student may have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual while in a classroom, extracurricular group, or on a school bus.
Your student is not excluded from school or school activities.
Please monitor your student daily for the following symptoms:
● Fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
If any one of these symptoms are observed, isolate immediately, seek medical care
and contact your school nurse.
Please report a COVID-19 positive diagnosis to your school nurse.
COVID-19 positive and/or symptomatic exposed individuals must meet the following criteria before returning to school/work:
● Must be isolated for at least 10 days after symptoms first appear
● Must be fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications at the end of the 10 day period
● Improvement of all other symptoms
Parents please know you must provide proof if your student is going to be absent. If you have been to the doctor to determine if kids are positive, please email that to Mrs. Hayes or to Nurse Jessica.
cherittahayes@jefcoed.com or jessicathomas@jefcoed.com
If you do not have documentation for a student's absence, it will be considered unexcused. Please refer to the Code of Conduct for attendance and truancy for excessive unexcused absences.
Bus issues and concerns....
We need students to understand that they must stay seated at all times on the bus, do not throw items on the bus, keep their hands to themselves, and they must wear their mask while on the bus. We have had multiple bus drivers report behavior that is concerning. Any reports of inappropriate incidents or behavior will be thoroughly reviewed and discipline will be given to those directly involved or those breaking rules. Please review the Code of Conduct regarding bus discipline.
