Code Heart
Central Bucks School District is teaming up with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Heart Watch Program under the Division of Cardiology to improve our emergency response to victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and become Heart Watch Certified. To accomplish this goal, it will require some additional education and preparation for Lenape’s existing CERT team, along with other CERT teams across district buildings. The following interventions will be implemented:
1. CPR and AED training for all members of the CERT teams.
2. The creation of a written Cardiac Emergency Response Plan specific to building levels.
3. The addition of a new overhead call for a cardiac emergency response in all buildings.
4. Education to all staff regarding the Heart Watch Program and its implications in each district building.
5. The facilitation and supervision of a cardiac emergency response drill to ensure all tasks on the CHOP evaluation check list are completed.
6. Certification through CHOPs Heart Watch Program.
Last week, Lenape facilitated a Code Heart Drill, and are proud of our CERT Team’s quick and effective response.

Guidance "Sparks"
Below is a Sparks newsletter article we sent out almost two years ago. The topic is still very relevant. Please take the time to watch with your children for some interesting and needed discussion.
In today’s world we are all trying to know what is best for our children but it is difficult to see what lies ahead for them. The Sparks video below gives some economic insight into the past, present and future. Please share your reactions to this video with you children for their own understanding of future possibilities.

Smart But Scattered: Free Virtual Presentation
Executive skills are brain-based skills such as task initiation, sustained attention, working memory, planning, organization, and goal-directed persistence that are critical to school success. They are critical to the acquisition of academic skills, but more importantly, they are the skills students need to get things done. Many students struggle with them and for these kids, schooling without the structure of the classroom to support them may be particularly challenging. In this free virtual presentation sponsored by the Bucks County IU on Thursday, April 7 from 6:00 to 7:30, Dr. Peg Dawson will describe how these skills develop throughout childhood and suggest strategies parents can use to help children acquire the critical skills they need to be successful students.
