Announcements for All
Welcome to Discovery, Daniel Owensby!
Your students should have brought home a letter from Mr. Owensby on Friday. Please read it over. (We know, we know...check the backpacks).
Mr. Owensby will be student teaching with us this semester.
He is a soon-to-be graduate of UAH and plays guitar and saxophone.
We are very excited to have him here!
We need all families to check CHARMS and update the STUDENT EMAIL ADDRESS section. Charms is requiring that all students have a student email address by 2/1. Please help us fulfill this requirement. Go ahead and update all your contact info while you're there.
Don't forget to scroll all the way down - especially to find the section specific to your band class. Thank you for staying up to date!
We need a final list for Percussion Ensemble by Monday 1/13.

BEDSHEET FUNDRAISER IS IN!
We still have sheet orders for the following students: Ballard, Blount, Curry, Hines (8th) Please pick these up from the band room as soon as possible!
Calling All Band Parents!
We will be contacting the band parents who expressed interest in volunteering last semester shortly about upcoming events and ways we can certainly use your help!
If you are willing to volunteer your time (regularly or as needed), please email us at info@dmsbands.org and let us know.
ORLANDO TRIP UPDATES
Our next payment ($250) has a due date of 1/24. Although we ask you to refrain from cash/check payments while we replace our money lock box, parents can still pay online. Email info@dmsbands.org if you need instructions for online payment.
Please check CHARMS and see your balance so everyone can be caught up. We have already made 3 payments to our travel company, so we need payments in on time where possible. Thank you!

Note that there is a $3.50 charge for paying online
Please email us a copy of the receipt so we can enter the payment in Charms. The systems aren't linked so it won't post automatically, and it takes us several days to get a copy of all online payments.

FUNDRAISING
Publix Fundraiser
The little tags that once linked to DMS Band are no longer valid. Publix is moving to a system similar to Kroger. To sign-up, you’ll need to go to www.publix.com or the Publix app on your phone. You will need to setup or sign-in to your existing account. Choose “My Publix Partner” and enter Discovery Middle School - Madison, AL.
Kroger Fundraiser
Signing up for Kroger rewards is one of the easiest ways you can fundraise for the band. You can link your existing card to DMS by following the information below.
Registration Instructions:
The Kroger Community Rewards program is an ideal way to support your favorite non-profit or
charity organization. The program allocates funds to participating organizations based on the purchases that registered members, family and friends of the organization have made at Kroger using their Kroger Plus card. Each individual should enroll their Kroger Plus Cards online at the Kroger secure website, www.krogercommunityrewards.com and then choose the organization they wish to support.
To use the Kroger Community Rewards Program:
1. Register your Kroger Plus card online at krogercommunityrewards.com
• Be sure to have your Kroger Plus card handy (you will need the number)
• If you do not yet have a Kroger Plus card, they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger.
• Click on Sign In/Register
• Click on SIGN UP TODAY in the ‘New Customer?’ box (unless you have previously
registered online).
• Sign up for a Kroger Rewards Account by entering zip code, clicking on favorite store,
entering your email address and creating a password, agreeing to the terms and conditions
• You will then get a message to check your email inbox and click on the link within the body of the email to finalize card registration.
• Click on My Account and use your email address and password to proceed to the next step.
2. Link your card with DMS Band
• Log into your account at krogercommunityrewards.com
• Click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards information and input your Kroger Plus card
Number.
• Update or confirm your information.
• Enter DISCOVERY BAND, select organization from list and click on confirm.
• To verify you are enrolled correctly, you will see your organization’s name on the right side of your information page.
Tips:
• REMEMBER, purchases will not count for the DMS Band until after you have registered your card and linked it to the DMS Band
• If you use your phone number (alternateID) at the register instead of swiping your card, call 800-576-4377 and select option 4 to get your Kroger Plus card number.
• You must swipe your registered Kroger Plus card (or use the alternate ID that is associated
with your registered Kroger Plus card) when shopping for each purchase to count.
