Our First Few Days
2nd Grade is off to a great start and I am so happy to work with such a wonderful group! These first few weeks of school are about establishing our classroom community, learning routines and expectations, and what it means to be a Lower School Leader. We enjoyed being together and a very loud Lower School Sing on Friday!
This week, the children will be learning how to do their homework in school. By learning how to do it before they begin to take it home, they will be able to work on it with greater independence when it does go home in a backpack.
A FEW THINGS
- Lower School students arriving before 8:30 am should go to the Upper School and wait with duty teachers until the bell rings for students to go to their classrooms.
- Weekly dismissal charts for next week came home on Friday. Please initial the box for how your student is going home each day. This paper is our backup to the children knowing how they are going home every day. It should stay in his or her HW folder. As the year progresses, we won’t use the chart anymore. Don’t worry about any changes you need to make, just send me an email.
- Birthdays: we have some birthdays coming up. If your child's birthday is on a weekend or in the summer, they can pick a day to bring in their treat, or a have a half-birthday treat.
- Specials reminder: Art or Shop Tuesday and Thursday, PE Wednesday and Thursday, Library on Thursday (please remember books!).
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
With a smile,
Mrs. Nyce
