Fraternity and Sorority Recruitment
For most parents, FSL is a whole new world with its own language and strange customs. As if navigating college isn't hard enough! The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers an extensive orientation for students going through the recruitment process, as well as their parents. While affiliation with a fraternity or sorority can be a wonderful part of college, the process of joining can be emotional, and we want you to feel prepared to support your student through the ups and downs.
The College Panhellenic Council (or just "Panhellenic" for short), comprises the national social sororities. Georgia College is home to eight chapters:
- Alpha Delta Pi
- Alpha Gamma Delta
- Alpha Omicron Pi
- Delta Gamma
- Delta Zeta
- Kappa Delta
- Phi Mu
- Zeta Tau Alpha
Formal Recruitment for Panhellenic sororities happens before fall classes start. Students registered for recruitment will move in August 2 and participate in recruitment activities August 4-9. Registration for formal recruitment is open until July 12.
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) includes the national social fraternities. Georgia College is also home to eight IFC chapters:
- Alpha Tau Omega
- Delta Sigma Phi
- Kappa Alpha Order
- Kappa Sigma
- Pi Kappa Alpha
- Pi Kappa Phi
- Sigma Alpha Epsilon
- Theta Chi
IFC recruitment takes place after classes begin in mid-August, so those students will move in on the regular move-in dates of August 8-10. Registration for IFC recruitment is open until August 1.
Georgia College is also home to eight of the "Divine Nine" National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) fraternities and sororities:
- Alpha Kappa Alpha
- Alpha Phi Alpha
- Delta Sigma Theta
- Kappa Alpha Psi
- Omega Psi Phi
- Phi Beta Sigma
- Sigma Gamma Rho
- Zeta Phi Beta
Additionally, Georgia College hosts several special-interest Greek letter organizations under the United Greek Council (UGC):
- Gamma Sigma Sigma, a service sorority
- Sigma Alpha Omega, a Christian social sorority
- Omega Delta Sigma, a veterans fraternity
- Mu Sigma Upsilon, a multicultural sorority
- Lambda Sigma Upsilon, a Latino fraternity
Each of the NPHC and UGC chapters are governed by their national organizations, and recruitment activities happen throughout the academic semester. Students interested in joining one of these organizations can learn more about them through GC Connect.
Immunization Record
Proof of immunization is required for future registration, so it's important to get that document in now to avoid a surprise in October! Visit https://www.gcsu.edu/registrar/immunization-information for details of required immunizations.
Students can view and track their immunization requirements through PAWS by clicking on the Student tab, then Student Records.
Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy is a year-long, co-curricular freshman experience that introduces students to the principles of leadership. Through workshops, mentorship, assessments, conferences, and professional networking opportunities, students in the Leadership Academy open doors for lifelong leadership.
Registration for the Leadership Academy is open, now through August 10. Students can visit https://www.gcsu.edu/leadershipacademy/getstarted to learn more and get started. Parents, check out the Parent Guide to Georgia College's Leadership Academy below!
