We are discussing the flow of energy in living systems and inherited traits.
Flow of Energy in Living Things: How does a plant get food if it cannot move? Students will investigate the differences between producers, consumers and decomposers. Students will also take a look at the flow of energy between food webs and food chains and how the suns plays an important part, as well as how changes in these systems affect the food web.
Traits: Where did I get my hair color from or why do I have freckles? Students will learn and explore that we inherit half of our genes from our mother and half from our father. Other likenesses (behaviors such as table manners) are learned, while others are instinctive such as breathing.
