Cub Connection

Being a leader is not a title. It's a behavior. We live it!

Avoca Elementary wants to welcome two new team members! We welcome Abbey Price and Staci Wightman to the Den!

Abby Price is a new member of our Physical Education Department teaching our elementary students and coaching our JV Girls Soccer Team. Abby grew up in Naples, NY and graduated from Naples High School. She played soccer in high school and continued on to play in college as well. She got her Bachelor's degree from SUNY Fredonia in Exercise Science with a minor in Athletic Coaching and her Master's degree in Physical Education from Canisius College. When she's not teaching or coaching the JV girls soccer team, she likes to listen to music and play with her new puppy, Duckie! A fun fact about Abby is that she won the Democrat & Chronicle's Finger Lakes Player of the Year award for soccer her senior year and got to be on the front page of the newspaper.

Staci Wightman joins our intervention team as a teaching assistant. Staci is an Avoca resident that has spent time as a substitute in our district. She comes to us with previous teaching assistant experience and high recommendations. Staci comes with a love for doing crafts with our kids in the After School Program.

Welcome to the team!

Leader In Me

1. Be Proactive

2. Begin with the End in Mind

3. Put First Things First

4.Think Win-Win

5.Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood

6. Synergize

7. Sharpen the Saw

Students work to be PROACTIVE!

Students are learning the importance of pausing to think before they respond. Everyone has the opportunity to choose how they respond and to focus on their circle of influence. Our Avoca Cubs are already showing just how great it is to be Proactive in our daily lives.
