Congratulations to Irena Difort ... Our "Terrific Kid" of the Year!
We would like to congratulate Irena Difort for being named our Terrific Kid of the Year! Irena's bright, bubbly personality never ceases to bring a smile to the face of anyone she meets. As a Falcon Patrol member she volunteers to greet students, teachers and visitors as they enter the building and reads to first grade students in Ms. Wells' classroom.
Irena is always willing to lend a helping hand and is very responsible with all things that are entrusted to her care. As a student in the classroom, she is a shining example of what it means to be a terrific kid!!
We are pleased to have Irena Difort represent MES as our TERRIFIC KID of the YEAR!
SC-PASS Testing Information
Testing Dates and Times
- May 11th - Science
- May 12th - Social Studies
Reminders
All students in 4th and 5th grades will participate in SC-PASS testing.
Testing will begin each morning at 8:30am.
Please make sure your child arrives at school on time on testing days. (The tardy bell rings at 7:40am.) Students who arrive after testing has started will not be allowed to enter their classroom until testing has been completed and will therefore be schedule for make-up testing.
During testing sessions, students may not be in possession of any electronic devices that can be used for communicating, timing, creating images or storing images. 3rd and 4th grade iPads will remain in their carts and 5th grade iPads will be collected and stored. As is always the case, cell phones will not be permitted at school.
Please do not schedule doctor appointments or other out-of-school appointments during testing hours. Typically, students perform much better on standardized assessments when they are able to complete the assessments in their natural, daily environment.

Congratularions to Nurse Reagan ... MES Ambassador of the Year!!
The District 2 Ambassador of the Year Award is a recognition program to honor a support staff team member for inspiring pride and confidence in the students and schools of Spartanburg School District Two through superior performance of job responsibilities.
Nominated for always going above and beyond what is required, Nurse Reagan has been an integral part of Mayo Elementary for many years. When describing Nurse Reagan’s impact on our school, MES teachers used words/phrases such as passion, going above and beyond, caregiver, advocate, friend, and encourager to describe her. One staff member stated, “She takes time to build relationships with our students and their parents because she knows these relationships are key in having healthy and happy students.”
Thank you, Nurse Reagan, for all that you do for the students, staff and community. We are honored to have you representing our family!!
