Dear Parents and Families,
It was great to see so many of you at our Student-Led Conferences last week. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to meet with your child’s teacher. Our children learn to take their goals seriously when they see that we are all on the same team and we will help them together. I hope you felt that your child’s conference was meaningful.
As I go into classrooms each day, I am excited to see the great teaching and learning that is happening. Thank you for your help with your child’s nightly homework and reading. We do ask that each of our students are reading 15-20 minutes each evening, in addition to their regular homework. This will help them as they do their daily work in class. As always, I welcome your visits and calls, and I will do my best to contact you by the end of the day if I’m not immediately available.
~Mrs. Dawson

We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Shelly Reed and Mrs. Valerie Hines who not only feed up to 500 students’ breakfast and lunch every day but prepare our fruit and vegetable snacks. We appreciate all the work they do for us and encourage you to do the same.
Are you willing to share your talents and time?
Are you able to give a few hours – once a week, once a month, or once during the year – to help kids be successful at school? We would welcome your help – on the playground, in the classroom (reading or helping with math), making copies, or going on a field trip. There are many ways that your presence will benefit our students and staff. We know that each person has special abilities and gifts, and we would love to help you find a way to share those at Midland.
Our district’s volunteer application form is available on-line at fpschools.org
Midland's Attendance Auto-Dialer
If your student is absent and we haven’t heard from you, you will receive an automated safety call to let you know that your student is not in class. When you receive this call, please call the office at 253-298-4500 to let us know the reason for the absence. Alternatively, you could send a signed note with your student when they return to school. Please remember that all absences remain unexcused until we hear from you. Thank you for your help in this important matter!
