Jr Jake Laque improved his squat by 60 lbs to 520! 285 deadlift 440 deadlift 1245 total 2nd place

Sr Sammy Bustamante continues to prove why he is the number 1 ranked lifter in region 5. Impressive total of 1155.
470 squat/250 bench/430 deadlift enough for a 1st place and BEST LIFTER Award.
All of our boys did phenomenal today. The hard work they've put in is evident as they all posted personal bests. We will take a week to train harder for our next meet, before our last qualifying meet. February 27th. Its quality, not quantity.(small numbers)

The girls are a scrappy bunch. They will give everything they have on the platform. They are fun to coach.
For the 1st time this season, some of our girls faced adversity. We had some missed lifts, and injuries...but we battled through, and finished strong.
The boys and girls will next compete at Crystal City on February 20th. This will be the last qualifying meet for our girls.

HS Boys vs Harper 1/26/21
The Pirates lost to the Harper Longhorns 59 to 36 last night. They also lost the services of Derrick Dominguez who left during the first quarter with a knee injury.. Freshman Rene Rodriguez stepped in to finish out the game and did a wonderful job.
Logan Burley led all scorers with 14 points, Nick Zuercher added 12.. Tyler Kelley had 6 and Clay Vincent had 4 to round out the scoring.

MS Girls vs San Saba 12/14/20
The Lady Pirates travelled to San Saba last night. The girls have been playing extremely aggressive and have shown improvement in every game. Jasmin had 3 points, Andrea had 2 and Danny had 1. Others that played were: Bianca, Olivia, Naomi, Lilli, Briana, and Julia.
MS Boys vs San Saba 12/14/20
The middle school Pirates battled hard in two games against San Saba, but fell short in both contests. The 7th grade lost 21-12, while the 8th grade dropped their contest, 38-16. Cavan Davis and Alejandro Arreola led the scoring for the 7th Pirates with four apiece. Jonathan Castaneda added a basket. The strong team defensive effort was led by Michael Heinen and Jaydin Segura. All the 7th graders are improving their game each week, showing promise for the future.
Mauricio Gallegos led the way offensively for the 8th grade team, scoring eight points. Leighton Johnson, Din Amaya, Clayton Forster, and Dominick Rodriguez all finished with two points apiece. The 8th grade group has been shorthanded all season, but they continue to work hard and improve each week.
MS Boys @ Mason 1/18/21 The middle school Pirates battled hard, but fell short in both games at Mason. The 7th graders had their best all around game of the season, continuing to show improvement. Jaydin Segura led the way with four points. Alejandro Arreola added a three pointer and Cavan Davis finished with two points. Connor Foley and Leighton Johnson each hit a three to lead the 8th grade team. Din Amaya and Kole Blackledge also scored for the Pirates.
MS Boys vs Goldthwaite 1/25/21
The middle school Pirates were defeated in both games by Goldthwaite. The 7th grade showed great improvement compared to the previous meeting with the Eagles. Gabe Aguirre and Alejandro Arreola provided the scoring for the PIrates. The 8th grade team couldn’t overcome a first half deficit, falling 34-13. Mauricio Gallegos led the scoring with five points. Gallegos also led a strong defensive effort in the second half. Pirates go on the road next week to Johnson City.
