We Are Learning...
Reading
This week in reading we talked about how readers grow in longer fiction books. We used some the strategies learned earlier in our year and dug deeper into understanding how we can use these with longer books. The strategies we talked about this week included rereading specific parts of books, retelling the beginning/middle/end, and we started to talk about the main characters in the book that we are reading, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
Writing
This week in writing began to uncover our opinions about the books we read. Students gathered more of their favorite books. They used these books to look at titles, covers, and lessons the story teaches us. Students continue to write letters to other readers trying to persuade them to read these favorite books. Students then picked one letter they had written and decided who and where they would deliver their letter.
