A message from our Principal

Panthers:

What a great first week we've had as we welcome back our Panther students. The positive back-to-school enthusiasm really shined on our first day assembly as the Seniors and Juniors had their first opportunity in two years to "move into their new sections" of the gymnasium. That's a special tradition at WPHS and one that we've been excited about reviving for these students. If you'll remember...the last time we had a chance to see them all together in the gym was when they were Freshmen and Sophomores. Check out some of the photos of their excited, spirit-filled faces in our Social Media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Activities are in full swing with our athletic teams all competing in their first events by the end of this week. And the Fall Production of Anne of Green Gables will have tryouts next week on Wednesday and Thursday. I can't wait to see who gets selected for their coveted roles. This will be a great production for the whole family. Be sure to put it on your calendar as you support our kids and program.

Students have really been great to see, in-person. And, their enthusiasm for being back in school has been palpable. What a start we've had! We look forward to keeping things moving forward and having our Panthers lead the way every day.

Until next time.

WPHS Track and Field Athletes compete at STATE!

The Track and Field season lasted a lot longer than normal last year. In fact, our athletes were competing well into June! The WPHS Panther family was represented at STATE by Hayden Molina, Savannah Roshek, Caleb Graves and Sam Johnson in pole vault, and Sonni Ciccarelli in the high jump. Not only did Sonni compete, he jumped 6'9" to WIN the state competition and broke his older brother Skye Ciccarelli's (a WPHS 2019 graduate) school record!

Congratulations to all who competed, and a BIG shout out to Sonny for his record breaking state win!

The Marching Band students are currently selling shirts to help raise money for their season! We have been doing great so far, and we hope to continue this momentum!

Our theme this year is "The Wild West". We will be playing selections from "Bonanza", "Home on the Range", and "Ghost Riders in the Sky" in our field show. We have several events and competitions this season that we are looking forward to competing in.

Please consider supporting us, and rocking one of our shirts! Thank you for all you do for our students, and for making Woodland Park great!

Panther Highlights!

Leadership Students start the year building up their team and prepping for Homecoming

Leadership (also known as Students Council) is a unique learning opportunity at WPHS. Student sin the class have been elected to a leadership position by their peers, or have gone through a vetting process and interview to serve as a Resident.

This year, Leadership is facilitated by Mrs. Norton and Mrs. Eastman. These energetic educators are exposing our young leaders to exciting experiences designed for growth mindset, self-direction, and agency.

Homecoming Week festivities are this groups first order of business. From the parade to the Bon Fire to the crowning of the Homecoming court, this group will be busy creating memories for us all.

Mrs. Orellana's Graphic Design class brightens our school and our hearts

Mrs. Orellana started the year with a super creative project: design positive and inspiring messages using sidewalk chalk. What a thrill it was to see these students working together to create beauty and bring positive messages to everyone walking by.

Thank you all for the inspiring work!

As we start off the new school year here are some healthy reminders!

  • If your student has a known health condition (Asthma, Allergies, Seizures, Diabetes) or needs special care such as medications, treatments or monitoring please bring in required health care plans and/or permission for medication forms which need to be signed by a physician.
  • All students are required to have up-to-date immunizations. Please provide a copy to the health office.
  • If your student has a non-medical immunization exemption there are new requirements. Either the form needs to be signed by a physician OR you must complete the online immunization education module and provide the certificate to the health office.
  • Remember to keep your student home if exhibiting any signs or symptoms of illness.

For more information or to download any forms please visit the District Webpage under Departments on the Health Information tab. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Healthy Students Learn Better!
