2022 Washington County 4-H Council Camp Scholarship Application

APPLICATIONS OPEN: Friday, November 2, 2021

APPLICATIONS CLOSE: Monday, November 29, 2021
AWARDED: Washington County 4-H Program Achievement Celebration, December 5, 2021

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS AVAILABLE

Applications will be reviewed and awarded by Selection Committee.

* $20 Scholarship Awards - 4-H Clover Kids (5-7 years old Jan 1, 2021) who submitted a 4-H Clover Kids Record Book
* $100 Scholarship Awards - 4-H Members (8-17 years old Jan 1, 2021) who submitted a 4-H Achievement Application
* $50 Scholarship Awards - 4-H Members (8-17 years old Jan 1, 2021) who did NOT submit a 4-H Achievement Application
* Scholarship amounts will cover State 4-H Camps (state), Big Red Academic Camps (state), School Year Camps (state), and Summer/Spring/Winter 4-H Workshops (county/local/state)

**Upon selection, scholarship recipients who are interested in using their funds for a 4-H camp (state) must utilize a unique code issued to them as a scholarship recipient. Scholarship recipients are NOT to register for a 4-H camp (state) until they have communication from the Washington County 4-H staff regarding their awarded scholarship. There is NO way to reimburse scholarship recipients if they have already registered for 4-H camp (state) without the unique code.
**Scholarship recipients who are interested in using their funds for Summer/Spring/Winter 4-H Workshops must communicate with the Washington County 4-H staff BEFORE registering for the workshop.

Scholarship Opportunity

Attention all 2022 graduating seniors who are planning to continue your education! The Martha and Don Romeo Scholarship application is now OPEN on behalf of the Nebraska Association of Fair Managers. The application and requirements can be found on our website at https://extension.unl.edu/statewide/washington/scholarships-0/ and is due to the Washington County by November 30, 2021. One female and one male across the state will be awarded $500 each, the winner will be announced at the annual NAFM convention in January.

2022 Special Garden Project

The 2022 Special Garden Project will be the Rubenza Cosmos, whose flower petals change color as they age. What is the Special Garden Project? This project gives youth the resources to try growing a new or unusual plant. Learn more at 4h.unl.edu/sgp.

National Western Stock Show - Catch-a-Calf Program

The National Western Stock Show is around the corner. This programs is the best in the Nation for young people to participate.

Nebraska 4-H Horse Advisory Committee

The Nebraska 4-H Horse Advisory Committee is now accepting applications for new members. This committee, made up of 4-H volunteer leaders and Extension personnel, provides guidance and assistance in carrying out program activities. Learn more at 4h.unl.edu/horse-advisory-committee.

The Nebraska 4-H Livestock Information Series provides resources for 4-H members, leaders, and parents looking to gain knowledge in various livestock-related topic areas. Resources include everything from videos and handouts to hands-on activities and lesson plans. Plus, new resources are still being added. Check it out at 4h.unl.edu/livestock-info-series.

2022 Nebraska 4-H Fed Steer Challenge applications are due December 1, 2021. This program is designed to enhance the traditional 4-H beef project and provide an opportunity to learn more about the beef industry. Learn more and apply at 4h.unl.edu/fed-steer-challenge.

Mark your calendars! Big Red Camps will be held on June 12-17, 2022, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. More details will be coming soon!

2022 Nebraska State Fair

As announced by the Nebraska State Fair, 4-H and FFA livestock shows will be held on separate weekends in 2022. While the final schedule is being determined, 4-H livestock shows will take place on Friday, August 26-Sunday, August 28 and FFA will take place on the second weekend.
