It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!

Cold & Flu Season is Here!

It's that time of year when we start to see illnesses in students increase. Remember to keep encouraging good hygiene with your student. Hand washing is key! If you haven't scheduled your flu shots already, be aware that there will be a flu shot clinic offered for students, staff, and families at Crawfordsville Middle School on Oct. 29, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 PM. As always, keep your child home until they have been fever, vomiting, or diarrhea free for 24 hours without medicine before returning them to school.

Outside Recess Policy-From the Elementary Handbook

All students will go outside unless the temperature is deemed too cold by a combined temperature and wind chill of 20 or below, or it is raining. Please make sure your child dresses for the weather. If a student needs to stay indoors due to an illness, a doctor’s note is required. Please remember winter weight coats, hats, and gloves for your child. *Individual buildings may choose to keep students inside above 20 degrees at the discretion of the building Principal or designee based on the scheduled length of time of the outside recess, age of the students, and condition of the playground.

Notes from the Nurse

The Lions Club will be coming to Hoover to complete vision screenings for our 5th graders on Friday, October 11th. If they recommend your child have a more in-depth exam, I will send home a referral letter. If you receive a referral letter, please let us know if your child sees an eye doctor and the results of the exam. Vision can affect learning. It is important that students who need glasses wear them while in school. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions.

Our school has partnered with Indiana Dental Outreach…the mobile dentists to offer in-school dental care. CLICK HERE to sign up your child today. Dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and Hoosier Healthwise. A low cost self-pay option is available for those without insurance. You can complete the form online or return the one sent home to me.

Sincerely,
