What is Guinea Worm?
a very long parasitic nematode worm that lives under the skin of infected humans and other mammals in rural Africa and Asia.
symptoms of infection
Do not show system of infection until around a year later. Symptoms include fever, swelling, and pain in the area of the worm. More than 90% of the worms come out of the legs and feet, but can appear in other body parts also.
Treatment of infection
There is no drug to cure and no vaccine to prevent the disease. If you want the worm removed, you must pull it out day after day very slowly.
Where is Guinea worm disease found?
All cases of Guinea worm disease are found in Africa; Sudan, Ghana, Mali, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Niger.
