March Newsletter

Important News about your iPad

As you may know from our last newsletter, we are discussing what to do with our aging iPads. After reviewing the survey results and many discussions, we have decided to replace the devices with new ones. In order to purchase new devices, we will be selling our old devices back to Apple. What does that mean for you? Unfortunately, it means ALL iPads will need to be turned into Instructional Technology during the month of May. We will schedule a day at each campus for you to turn in your iPad and charger - no exceptions or extensions. Please make sure you back up any content (pictures, videos) you would like to save prior to turning in the iPad. We will wipe them clean in your presence the day you turn it in. We realize this may be an inconvenience, but it is a necessary step so that we can upgrade to a device that will be more effective in the years to come. You will be issued a new device in the Fall.

Reminder about connecting to the Wireless Network

Remember when you are connecting any device to our network, you need to select the chisdbyod network. You will still need to open the internet and login to Lightspeed with your district credentials to have internet access. The 21st network is used for district owned devices. Technicians will connect devices to this network. It is not necessary for your district iPad to be connected to the 21st Network.

Summer Help Needed

We are looking to hire about 4 CHISD staff to help run our Summer Tech Academy the week of June 8-12. If selected, you will be paid ($25/hour for teachers and $15/hour for paras). Please note that for most staff, June 8-9 will be contract days due to the bad weather days. We will need to work with your campus principal to release you to work the summer camp. However, you won’t be paid the hourly rate those 2 days because you are on contract. We are looking for staff that are truly interested in coding and robotics, and willing to bring back anything they learn to their campuses in the form of after school clubs, etc. All questionnaires must be submitted by April 15 for consideration.
