Language Arts

Students read through chapter 15 of To Kill a Mockingbird. Next week, we will be discussing the heart of the story, the trial of Tom Robinson, comparing it to the film, and responding to both with a written prompt. Soon, we will be doing our mid-year reading assessment---kids won't need to do anything to prepare for this! As always, I am honored to be able to work with your kids each week!

U.S. History

This week in U.S. History student began to explore who President Andre Jackson was a a person by analyzin character traits. WE also began to examine his role Native American removal and the atrocities commited during that time by the United States government and its army.

Next week we will finish our analyzation of Andrew Jackson, culminating in an 80% assignment culminating in the question, "Does Andrew Jackson deserve to be on the $20?" and if not, who should replace him?

This week we finished our 80% assignment on famous landforms from the Lewis and Clark expedition. The students were required to present and turn in a packet of completed work in order to receive a grade.

Next week we are learning about volcanoes. We will be using the questions the students came up with today to drive our lessons and hopefully have all the questions answered by the end of the week!
