Tax Time

In an effort to make this unusual tax season a bit less taxing, we have posted the links to download both Federal and State forms on the home page of our website. There are also phone numbers if you wish to request paper forms.

If you do find the forms you need online but can't print them yourself, the Greenwich Free Library will print the forms for free. Please note that we will not print the instruction books for free.

While we are more than happy to help you get the forms you need, please remember that we are not licensed tax advisors and are not legally allowed to help you choose which forms to fill out.

If you do need help with your taxes, the wonderful people at VITA are, once again, providing this much-needed service. Call the number on the flyer below to find out if you qualify and make an appointment at a location near you.

Public Libraries - Public Support!

All public libraries depend on public funding. We fundraise and apply for grants to make a lot of our programs possible, but most of the money that keeps the lights on comes from the whole community.

That funding comes from a tax levy that is voted on by those who will pay the tax. Every year, the Greenwich Central School allows the Greenwich Free Library and the Easton Library to piggyback on their system of voting for and collecting taxes. This saves us a lot of money and time and we really appreciate it.

In order to get on the ballot, however, we must petition the School Board to include our proposition. We've had petitions out at both locations and have reached the required number of signatures more quickly than we anticipated!

Thanks to everyone who signed the petition, either here or in Easton.
