Jane Boyd notes......
Jane Boyd will again offer two cohorts (Fall and Spring) of Strengthening Families Program to families who have a need/desire to grow their parenting skills.
The Strengthening Families Program is a nationally recognized, evidence-based parenting and family strengthening skills program for high-risk and general population families. Families complete a 7-session program addressing five protective factors that promote and build family strengths: Parental Resilience, Social Connections, Concrete Support in Times of Need, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development and Social/Emotional Competence of Children. The goal is to promote positive parent-child interaction, promote healthy childhood growth and development; and enhance families functioning by building trusting relationship, teaching problem solving skills, and improving the family’s support system. Program highlights include FREE weekly family meal, FREE childcare for children under 6, and graduation ceremony upon completion of the program.
The first cohort will begin in October. Participant criteria for this cohort include:
1) Family must have at least one child between ages 6-11
2) Family must commit to attending all 7 nights of class (7 week commitment with class mtg once per week)
3) Family must have a way to/from class
4) Family is preferred to be enrolled in other Jane Boyd/Four Oaks services, but this is not required.
5) Cohort capacity of 18 families
See attached flyer.

Next PTA Meeting
October 14, 2019
Happy Fall JSA families and PTA members!
Time is already flying this year and the first round of conferences are just around the corner. Each semester, the PTA coordinates a meal for all the teachers and staff at JSA during conferences to thank them for all the extra hours and hard work they give to make JSA the wonderful place that it is for our kiddos. This year the Fall Conference Meal will be on Tuesday, October 15th and will have a Mexican Fiesta theme, so break out your favorite Mexican-themed recipes!
Please take a look at the Google Docs link below and sign up for any items you can bring. If possible, please try to have the prepared items dropped off around 4 PM on Tuesday, October 15th. Items that do not require preparation can be dropped off any time that day. If you are unable to bring an item in, but would like to provide a cash donation to purchase the food, please provide your donation to Shawn Carlson in the JSA office by Friday, October 11th (please make sure to mark it for JSA PTA - Conference Meal). If you have any questions or are unable to update the Google Doc sign up, please contact Corrie Block directly at corrieblock@gmail.com.
