Jag E-News
Week 33: April 18-22
Hey Jags,
We've got another four-day week this week! Please remember that Monday, April 18, is a professional development day for teachers and staff, and it is a student holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 19.
Last week I had the honor of attending FBISD's annual Teacher of the Year Celebration at Safari Texas to honor our amazing Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Becki Smith. It was a tremendous evening and we are so proud of Mrs. Smith!
This week we get to honor and recognize our amazing PTO and volunteers at our End of Year Appreciation Breakfast. I would like to invite all of our volunteers to join us for breakfast this Thursday, April 21st from 9:00-10:00am. We couldn't do what we do without the help and support of all our parent volunteers. Thank you!
Our PTO has also kicked off their silent auction as a fundraiser for our campus. There are over 70 items up for bid and the auction closes on Friday, April 22nd at 5:00pm. Be sure to check out the items and experiences that are available. Have a great week Jags!
Sincerely,
Cholly Oglesby

TURN IT BLUE: Autism Awareness
Show Your Support:
- Wear BLUE on April 8th--TURN IT BLUE
- Have a conversation with your child about how to show empathy and compassion towards those that are different
What Can You Do?
- Educate your children about autism and increase the awareness of this developmental disability
- Empower your children to make a positive contribution to the lives of others through kindness and tolerance
- Enable your children to make a difference, take action and become a positive role model for other children
Early Detection
- While every child develops differently, we know that early treatment improves outcomes, often dramatically.

Ramadan
We want you to know that the Jag Staff is ready and happy to provide support for students that are participating in Ramadan. Our partnership with our school community is important. We thank our families for their communication with the campus regarding special occasions and observances that may impact the instructional day, so that we can continue to our all students.
We have space available in the library during lunches for fasting students who do not wish to be in the cafeteria. Fasting students who want to sit in the cafeteria are welcome to do so and will not be required to eat or drink. We also recognize that some students may wish to request to be excused from PE while fasting. To be excused from PE, a note is required from the parent, or the religious organization, with the start and end date. We are aware that many students pick and choose days to fast but this can be difficult to monitor, therefore, if a note is brought in the student will be excused from all physical activity for the entire month and will be provided with alternate assignments.
Should students start to feel unwell or need any support, the campus will be ready to respond to their needs. Please reach out to your child's grade-level assistant principal or counselor and encourage your children to communicate with their teachers about any needs that may occur during Ramadan.
