McClatchey Messenger FOR STAFF
Last WEEK!!!
Thank You.
We appreciate being able to work here in this great environment.
You are all supportive and caring during times of triumph and tribulations.
Thank you for all you do to make DME the incredible school that it is.
It is the people on board that make wonderful things happen.
Have a Merry Christmas with your friends and family.
Classrooms, Think Tanks, and Hallways
Also, please tidy up your classroom, think tank, and hallway.
Please put the flexible seating back together orderly, straighten up papers in the hallways on cabinets, remove things falling off the walls, etc....
Have students stack their chairs, clean out their cubbies, and book boxes.
This will give the custodians a head start as they do a deep clean while we are gone.
Things will be clean and fresh for a NEW YEAR!
WINTER SHUTDOWN
- If you have a personal refrigerator in your room, you will be expected to clean it out and unplug it over the break. Please make plans to have that done before you for leave.

5th Grade Math: Course Selection for 6th-grade Pre-AP
5th Grade Math: Course Selection for 6th-grade Pre-AP Math
In January, the middle school counselors will be coming to your campuses to advise your 5th-grade students for middle school course selection. While there is no prerequisite for students to be eligible to select 6th-grade Pre-AP math, it would be beneficial for your 5th-grade math teachers to encourage those students who excel in math and have shown a pattern of acceleration to enroll in that course. Parents are not always sure if their student is ready for Pre-AP math in 6th-grade and may not select that course. Taking 6th-grade Pre-AP math will put the student on a course to take Algebra I in the 8th grade, thus allowing them to take a fifth math course in high school. Not all students are developmentally ready for this type of track in mathematics, but many are. Please encourage your 5th-grade math teachers to reach out to students/parents to help with advisement for this particular course. If you would like additional talking points for conversations with parents, please get with Becky Wiginton or Nikki Nix.
