Eagle Foundation Update
May 2018
MISSION
A learning experience from CV to Haiti
The CV High School Agriculture Department was awarded a learning grant from the Eagle Foundation in February in the amount of $1,000 to support their proposed Pens for Hens project. The Department and FFA members took on the challenge of constructing two 6' x 8' chicken coops that would be sold to community members with each coop capable of housing 24 hens. It was a project that student teacher, Mr. George Dietrich supervised. The funds from the sale of the coops were sent in early May to a Wisconsin-based non-profit called "Pens for Hens." The organization works with schools in Haiti, providing funding for entrepreneurial poultry projects, particularly laying hens. The funds will assist Haitian students in creating their own chicken coops and learning the basic tenants of running a business.
