Because God Loves Me, I Can Trust
This Sunday preschoolers are learning that "I Love God" while elementary kids are learning "A Heart After God Is Trusting" from 2 Samuel 2, 5 when David becomes king. I love how these two truths are connected.
We love because he first loved us. For me, the biggest obstacle to trusting God is understanding how He loves me and really believing that. I feel like I've lived my life recovering from the mindset that I have to earn his love or approval. BUT, when I walk in the truth that the God of the universe loves me, that there's nothing that I can do to change that or earn more of it, when I stand in the grace of love that's lavished on me that I don't deserve. and let the Holy Spirit help that take root in my heart... well then, the only natural response is worship and trust. Why would I choose not to trust a Father who is all-powerful and is constantly showing me how much He loves me, is for me, and is working to restore me?
I can trust his voice when I know what it sounds like.
I can trust his motives when I know that restoring relationship is what He's after.
I can trust his plans when I understand that He's working for all things together for my good.
I can trust his future provision, when I look at his past faithfulness.
I can trust HIM, because He is trustworthy.
Remember, as we're walking through this series we're focusing on being united in prayer over 2 things: what the heart of God is like and how we (us and kids) can be people after God's heart.
Gods Heart- God Loves Me
My Heart- A Heart After God Is Trusting
This week let's pray for these things:
- Father, show me YOUR HEART! Remind me of your love. In unique ways, make it abundantly clear to me this week that your eyes are on me and that your faithful love surrounds me like a shield.`Open my heart to receive what you want to show me.
- Give me a heart that's trusting. Give me faith. Expel any fear or anxiety from me and replace it with belief in who you are and what you are going to do. Stir up hope in me as I spend time with you.
