Monday Was a Day On In Service of Others for 3rd Graders
Mr. Frost and Mrs. Haydu's students chose to make a difference in the lives of others on Martin Luther King Jr.'s Day of Service while volunteering at the East Hampton Food Bank. They learned how the food bank serves town members in need and how to sort donated items.
Food Bank Facts:
- Almost 5% of East Hampton utilizes the food bank.
- A family can only get 3 days of food per month.
- By March, holiday donations are used up and they need more support.
- During the summer there is a higher demand, since kids are home from school.
- They will accept food that you have grown in your summer gardens.
- Everyone at the food bank is a volunteer.
- You can donate boxes containing sealed individual packages.
- Don’t forget dogs and cats, sometimes a financial hardship is temporary or unexpected and people still need to care for their pets.
The Food Bank located at 42 West High Street accepts donations from 9-12:00 on Mondays and Thursdays. To volunteer, call 860-365-5978. #EastHamptonProud!
Safety Drills Prepare Us for the Unexpected
Then during afternoon dismissal on the same day the unexpected happened! The alarms sounded once again and our staff and students responded by immediately following our safety protocols. Within just a few moments we learned that an alarm had been inadvertently pulled by a little one. We are grateful that it wasn't a true emergency, proud of our team's response to keep students safe, and sorry for any inconvenience it caused families waiting to pick up children. #RelentlessFocusOnSafety #CheetahPride

Join Andy & Brandy at This Important Board of Education Meeting
The budget process continues on Monday, January 27 at the High School at 6:30 PM
with presentations by the Principals, Director of Special Education, Director of Curriculum, and Business Manager. In addition, the Principals will identify some of the teaching positions eliminated in their buildings over the last two years that should be returned. The past two years have seen the loss of 8 classroom teaching positions and our goal is to hopefully restore one or more classroom teachers - and not to lose more. During the meeting, there will also be time for public comment during the budget workshop portion of the meeting.
