Schreiber Guidance Department Newsletter November 2021
November is National Career Development Month!
A note from the Director's Desk
Hello, Schreiber! With the changing leaves and shorter daylight hours, it certainly feels like November. November is National Career Development Month, as designated by the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Did you know that career development is one of the three domains of school counseling? The other two domains are academic and social-emotional development. It's easy to see how these three domains are the building blocks to promoting high student achievement. Helping students identify their personal strengths and career interests is a large part of our work with all students from Kindergarten to 12th grade.
High school is where college and career goals take shape. Post-secondary planning occurs as early as 9th grade when students are involved in making course choices that support their interests. Throughout high school, students receive the tools and strategies to make informed decisions about their futures. Our goal is to prepare every Schreiber student to apply their skills in any field or endeavor they choose.
Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
All the best,
Lorrie Director, Pre-K-12 Director of Guidance
