The Cell Cycle
Garrett and Taylor
Interphase
- It spends 90% of its life in this phase
- 3 stages- G1-cell growth S - DNA replicates G2 - prepares for mitiosis
Prophase
- the beginning phase of mitosis
- The nucleus and nuclear membrane start to disappear
- centrioles move to the opposite ends of the cell
Metaphase
- Chromosomes line up in the middle.
- The chromosomes are located at the equator of the cell
anaphase
- chromosomes pull apart and form chromatids
- The sister chromatids are moving apart
Telophase
- 2 new nuclei form
- The cytoplasm in the cell is being divided
- called daughter cells
cytokineses
- cytoplasm separates into two
- creates two new cells
