GHP Nominees Announced
We are proud to announce GWA’s state nominees for the Governor’s Honors Program, which will be held this summer at Berry College. GHP is a program for gifted and talented students who have an area of specific academic interest. During their time at GHP, the finalists are set up in experiential learning environments that allow for exploration and thematic learning. The state selection process is highly competitive and rigorous. As nominees, our students will be required to do an in-depth assignment pertaining to their area of nomination and participate in an interview, simulation, or audition. This year’s GWA nominees are (pictured left to right):
- Julia Tanase (World Language/French)
- Emerson Sheldon (Agricultural Research/Biotechnology)
- Aubrey Hicks (Drama Performance)
- Keira Campbell (Visual Arts)
- Jackson Wimberly (Music/Percussion)

- Riley Edwards (Science/Chemistry)

Garden Fresh
Mr. Jameson's Sustainable Living class recently harvested leafy greens for another "cooking day" where they eat the benefits of their labors in the garden and greenhouse! Students have also started prepping soil and planters for wintertime greenhouse vegetables and fruit, including lettuce, radishes, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, and strawberries.

The GWA dancers will be presenting their holiday performance, "Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular!" tonight at 7 p.m. in the lower school gym (free admission). The show will feature hip-hop, lyrical, jazz and musical theatre performances to some of your favorite Christmas tunes. We hope to see you there!

Original Works
Upper school piano students are wrapping up the semester by expanding their creativity beyond the music. As a culminating project, students have written their own original piece of music, and are creating paintings that represent their music. Throughout the semester students have learned that music is part of the world around them, and encompasses all areas of study. Stop by the piano lab next week to see and hear their original pieces!
Operation Christmas Child
The GWA Interact Club was able to fill 100+ shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, which was only possible with the amazing donations from our families! The Hill collected and contributed over 700 items to fill shoeboxes and they are the winners of the ice cream party. Thank you for all of the donations towards this wonderful international service project!
Giving Back
Our NHS and Beta Club members packed 200 boxes during Thanksgiving break for the Walton County Empty Stocking Fund. These boxes will provide food for local families in need at Christmas time. ESF has been helping families in Georgia since 1927 and partners with Journey Church to organize the local collection and distribution of food boxes. Our students had a great attitude and worked hard to get the job done while giving back to their community.
Strong Start
Our varsity basketball teams open the new season with 2-0 records and will face Piedmont Academy this Friday on the home court. Come out to cheer on our athletes! Go Bulldogs!
Riley Wilson Signs with SWU
Riley Wilson will continue her softball career next year at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina. She plans to study communications. Congratulations and all the best to Riley!
