GES Fourth Grader Featured on Lehigh Valley Public Television

Glenside Elementary fourth grader Keira was featured as the PBS39 Artist of the Month for August 2019! Drawing since she was 2-years-old, Keira is inspired by YouTube artists and remains undaunted after a mistake, a lesson she passes along to her younger twin brothers.

Each year, the PBS39 Artist of the Month gives 12 young artists in kindergarten through 12th grade from the station's viewing area the chance to be featured by PBS39 on air, on its blog, Facebook page and newsletter. The students' talents are celebrated at an art show/winners party in December. Student submissions include music, fine art, writing, digital media and performing arts.

CES Teacher Gerald Aungst Attends Keystone Technology Innovators Summit

Cheltenham Elementary’s Gerald Aungst (left front row) was one of about 100 educators from across the commonwealth who attended this summer’s weeklong Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology (PAECT) Keystones Technology Innovators (KTI) Summit at Shippensburg University.

The summit is a week-long event where teachers spend time working in cohorts, attending pedagogical and technology-driven workshops and building their personal learning networks. KTIs are creative, innovative teachers who embrace best practices and technology integration in their schools, and advocate the use of technology as a transformative tool to nurture the intellect, innovation, and imagination of students. Aungst was chosen through a portfolio-based application and for his demonstrated passion for education and technology. Read more>

PowerSchool Mobile App Tutorial

CSD would like to make several points of clarification regarding the PowerSchool app. Only parents/guardians of fifth- through twelfth-grade students need to access PowerSchool. Grade K through 4 parents/guardians do not have PowerSchool portals. Access codes were mailed home or sent home with your student, including returning and new students. If you do not know your student and/or parent access code, please contact your building secretaries, who have access to locate that information.

If you believe your account needs to be reset, contact database administrator Vicky Sanchez. As a reminder, here are the instructions for setting up the PowerSchool App.

  1. If you already have the app installed, delete it and reinstall.
  2. Download the app from your mobile store, there are iOS and Android versions.
  3. Open the app.
  4. Instead of putting in the current mobile district code, click "Where's My District Code"
  5. Afterwards, click on "Enter Server Address"
  6. Enter https://powerschool.cheltenham.org as the server address.
  7. Students and parents should then be able to enter current access information via the login screen.

Pedestrian Safety Letter from CSD Transportation

Dear Cheltenham Families,

We’ve completed our first week, and, for the most part, I must commend our students for following or adhering to our rules and procedures when riding our buses. Encourage your student(s) to keep up the good work and continue to improve where needed! While we’ve communicated about expectations surrounding bus behavior, walking to and from the bus and/or school is another just as important area of focus. Read more>

New Memorandum of Understanding

Click through to read the new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among the Cheltenham Township Police Department, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County Detective Bureau and Cheltenham School District.

Through this agreement, parties seek to foster a relationship of cooperation and mutual support and to maintain a safe school environment. The MOU establishes procedures to be followed when certain incidents occur on school property, at any school-sponsored activity, or on a conveyance as described in the Safe Schools Act (such as a school bus) providing transportation to or from a school or school-sponsored activity. The MOU does not cover incidents outside those school settings and create no substantial disruption to the learning environment.
