Donalyn Miller author of The Book Whisperer, Reading in the Wild, and her newly released book, The Joy of Reading is coming back to Hastings!
Avid adult readers find reading personally meaningful and enjoyable. While motivation and engagement remain important factors influencing young people’s reading development, prioritizing joyful reading eludes many school communities. Why does reading enjoyment matter? What components foster reading joy? In this workshop, award-winning TX teacher and author Donalyn Miller will share the benefits of joyful reading and some conditions and resources that foster reading engagement. Includes numerous book recommendations and online resources.

Additional Information: 1 credit is available through Hastings College for $225 IF you attend both June 13 and June 14 (ELA Standards Implementation).
