MAVERICK VALUES

JUSTICE & MERCY IN ACTION

Mercy and Justice are intimately linked. They both must be expressed through action. Without acts, they are dead.

We use the word WITNESS a lot. You see it all around our school. We use it primarily because our Patroness was the first witness of the Resurrection. Importantly, we use it as a noun and a verb. I would argue that the latter is its more important usage. The below link has some great ideas for how to WITNESS JUSTICE.

OUR RELIGION COMMISSIONER'S TAKE ON JUSTICE

Justice

by Araceli R.

What is Justice? Justice means to act or treat

fairly,or to treat someone properly.

This applies especially

to the poor, the weak and the sick.

These words also mean fairness,

fair play, equity, and honesty.

Jesus witnessed Justice by

spending time with people who

Were hated by others. He also witnessed it be healing the

Sick, the paralyzed and the blind.

As a school we are not able to perform miracles in the way that Jesus did, but we have witnessed justice in our service

during our Thanksgiving canned food drive

because we served God’s people.

Justice to me is that everyone should be treated

equally, and to treat or show someone a way that

is good as it should be.

Davian G. is a good example of Justice in our

community. Every Day Davian treats everyone properly. He is a very good example of Justice.

Have a blessed day.

JUSTICE, TOY DRIVE STYLE

Thank you so much for your commitment to serve others this time of year when many kids are needy. The Maverick Toy Drive was a success, with dozens of toys delivered to Children's Hospital! Many thanks to Ms. Acosta and Ms. Escobedo for spearheading this awesome endeavor.

GROWTH MINDSET, STAR WARS STYLE...

2nd Annual Chess Tourney

Congrats to Rafael P., who defeated Araceli R. in the final to win the Chess Tournament!

The participants played excellently, having improved significantly since the beginning of the year. It should be noted that the runner up, Araceli, did not know how a piece moved in September. However, she practiced very hard, attended Chess Club each week, and had a great growth mindset to show great improvement to make it to the Championship game.
