The Weekend Edition
Our first full week of academic classes ended on Friday, and now it's the weekend! TGIF: Thank Goodness it's Friday! On Friday night the students participated in a SIG tradition, our academic trivia challenge, Brain Bowl. The students and staff also had a busy weekend of exploration at the Museum of Science and Industry and at Chicago's #1 Tourist location, Navy Pier. Saturday Night we had "Dinner and a Movie" Night with a Chicago tradition: Giordano's Deep Dish Pizza. On Sunday, the students took full advantage of the extra time to sleep in the morning as it's been such a busy week, and they later participated in various counselor group activities and rec activities. We ended the weekend with a Slam Dunk Show performance from Sky Quad, and then the students switched back into the academic mindset with evening tutorial in the university library, computer labs, and study lounges.

Not Just a Boring Academic Camp: A Student Perspective
Written by Anna Martirosyants (Senior Student)
My name is Anna, and I’m from Russia. I came to the SIG camp this summer. My mom sent me here to practice the English language and learn something useful during classes. I was absolutely sure that it’s going to be extremely boring here at SIG because studying is usually boring; however, I was so wrong.
I enjoy myself every minute of this camp. Classes are fascinating. I like my Improv class most of all, but all the others are also very interesting. Furthermore, after the classes are finished, we have great activities which I love doing with my friends here. People who came here must be gifted and talented, and they truly are. However, it’s not only about academic knowledge; people here have a talent of building friendship. I also adore our staff- all the staff members are so friendly.
Thank you SIG. Thank you for an awesome summer.
