For the Birds
The first-grade students have learned how a bird's beak, feet, and feathers help it to survive. They read nonfiction books and learned about reading captions, headings, and titles. They watched videos and recorded what they learned by writing it in a special bird book. The children used what they learned to design a bird. The students drew their creations and wrote about how their birds used their parts to survive. They added details about its habitat, nests, and eggs.
