Alternatives to Discipline and Language that Helps Children Thrive
Wednesday, October 14th from 8:00 am - 9:00 am
Multiple research studies have shown that many traditional discipline methods have a negative impact on our children over time and fail to help them become their most competent, responsible, happy and thoughtful selves. In this class, parents will look at alternative methods to discipline and how they are successful in redirecting children's behavior and helping children develop conflict resolution skills. In addition, parents will explore the language practices that researchers have found to have the most positive effects for children. Parents will learn how reframing some of their words can impact how their children's brains become wired and improve children’s behavior, helping them become emotionally healthy individuals.
Office hours will be held on the 14th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am in the conference room by the sunflower wall
These office hours are an opportunity for parents to come and talk individually with Teresa about any specific issues, questions or challenges they might have at the time or to talk about the content of the course as it applies to their family. Teresa will have a sign-up sheet at all of the parent education sessions and parents are also encouraged to email Teresa at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for a twenty minute time slot. Parents are also welcome to stop by the office hours if they have not had a chance to sign up in advance.
