Learning to Lead October 2021

Ott Bear Cubs are "Paws"itively Awesome Leaders!

Big picture
Ott students work hard at putting First Things First as they fill the bear paws on their leadership lanyards by showing safe, respectful and responsible acts of leadership. Once students fill their bear paw, students receive a 7 Habits pencil, bracelet, or piece of bubble gum from Dr. Laughlin and are recognized for their leadership during announcements. Students are also entered into a drawing to win a leadership t-shirt at the end of the month and participate in a special service project. We celebrated 108 full bear paws already 1st quarter! Way to go, Bear Cubs!

Parent Teacher Conferences are Coming Soon

Fall parent teacher conferences are right around the corner, October 19 and 20. We look forward to sharing your child's progress with you! Classroom teachers sent information home and emailed every Ott family a conference sign-up link. Please be sure to select one day and one time that would be most convenient for you to attend a conference with your child's teacher.

Because your time and participation during this conference is so valued and appreciated, please make childcare arrangements for younger siblings. If you need assistance signing up for a conference time or if you have any questions, please give us a call at 521-5435. We are happy to help!

Let's Go Play

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

Beginning with the End in Mind has students learning to think ahead, setting goals, considering consequences, and participating in the development of expectations. Students participate in activities that help them understand the impact of self-awareness, internal motivation, and the role of personal responsibility in achieving goals. Students also learn how setting goals helps improve academic performance.

Birthday Celebrations

We love all kinds of celebrations at school! Student birthdays are important, so we recognize these special days during our morning announcements. If you would like to drop off a birthday treat at the office for your child to share with the class, please make arrangements with your child's teacher. Due to health and wellness policies, all treats should be store bought and individually packaged. Healthy choices such as apple slices, baby carrots, string cheese sticks, pretzels, Goldfish® crackers, Rice Krispies® treats, etc. are encouraged!
