Art Supply Wish List
Please see the following list from our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Joe:
Art Supplies Wish List
Dear parents, we would greatly appreciate any materials you may wish to have your child donate to the art classroom. Please read the following list of items that are needed for the art class. You may choose one or more items on the list and consider donating to the art class. You or your child may drop off the material(s ) to the front office or room 500, the art classroom. Have the donations marked (“For Mrs. Joe’s Art Class").
Suggestions:
-Elmer’s school glue (All purpose or washable)
-Glue sticks
-Plain pink erasers
-Ziplock bags (any size)
-Aluminum foil (heavy duty or regular)
-Boxes of Kleenex (or other brand) tissues
-Rolls of paper towels
-Rolls of masking tape
-Black or colored sharpies
-Toilet paper (for making paper pulp)
-Paper plates
-Saran wrap
-Old beads and buttons
-Any color yarn
-White or colored printer paper
-White or black elastic
-New markers

What are we learning about this week?
Language Arts:
In reading the students are practicing connecting to text in a variety of ways. They will make text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world connections on books they read in class.
In writing, we are using their knowledge of complete sentences to help expand their writing and add more detail.
When you are reading with your student please use the following link to help aide the discussion. Reading Talks
**Please allow your child to bring in earbuds or headphones. We will begin our iStation testing this week and it will help if they have a pair from home. Thank you**

Math: We are continuing to review subtraction and addition facts, as well as the different strategies we utilize to solve math problems with.

Games and Activities:
Penguin addition and Subtraction
Science: Last Friday we started our "Our Place in Space" unit. In this unit students will identify planets in the solar system and construct models to determine patterns and relationships between Earth, Sun and Moon. They will describe the Sun and how it provides energy. Students will build on their understandings of weather patterns by comparing day-to-day weather changes in different locations.
Leader in Me: September 5th - 29th:
Habit 1 - Be Proactive
I can tell you what it means to be proactive. For the month of September we are focusing on mastering Habit 1-Be Proactive "I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking."
September 11th- We will discuss why this day is significant and then read a book called "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers".
This Week's Homework:
Reading: Read 60 minutes and record in your planner. They will reflect on their reading once a week in class.
Spelling: Unit 1 Words: something, both, saw, thought, below, between, there, help, from, their, back, said, right, first, could, never
Skill- Long Vowels (they say their name) ex: tube, dude, ape
Both Math and PACE students :
Practice math facts at least 20 minutes this week!
