Celebrations
Congratulations to our senior, Lexi Seal! Lexi was selected to cheer on the blue cheer team in the 16th Annual FCA Victory Bowl Week in May! Lexi has worked so hard and we couldn't be more proud of her! Congratulations Lexi!
Our RoBuffs worked hard and represented FHS well at the FTC Championships on Saturday.
FHS FFA hosted over 300 students and over 50 schools in their annual CDE kick off clinic. Our students helped teach how to be successful in numerous contests. Our students leadership and hospitality is an exceptional thing to watch. Great job FFA!
January is School Board Recognition month. If you see one of our FISD board members, please thank them for the hard work they put into serving our district.
UIL Academics
Attention students! It is time to explore UIL Academics events. Please view a list of these events on our FHS webpage. Please email Mrs. Draper if you are interested or stop by room 25. More detailed information about each event can be found on the UIL Academic page at uiltexas.org.
Our district competition is April 4-5 in Comfort and Llano. One-Act Play UIL competes on March 1st and is looking for both cast and crew. Spots are limited, so contact Mr. Daniell in room 24 today!
Remember, UIL Academics has over 1 million dollars of scholarships available and looks fabulous on your college resume!
Currently students can begin by working towards on of the two essay contests below.
Watch the video below to see how the essay contests are a good way to consider qualifying for scholarship opportunities. The essays are due February 14th.
FAFSA is Open (Senior Graduation Requirement)
Texas has adopted a new graduation requirement- FAFSA (as of the graduating class of 2022). The FAFSA window opened on December 31st because the FAFSA has been updated to be more user friendly. You can complete the process at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Please apply for school year 2024-2025.
Early bird gets the worm- and it must be completed by March 15th to have the opportunity to receive the most state funding. Once you have completed your FAFSA, you will receive a “Confirmation” page with a confirmation number. Please submit either the page or a picture of the page to auranga@florenceisd.net

Vaping
Vaping is a dangerous practice that can negatively affect teenagers. For more information on the dangers of vaping look at the website below.
FHS is taking measures to prevent vaping on campus. We are adding additional vape detectors in our bathrooms.
Additionally, students if you see vaping taking place on campus, please notify an adult. The consequences of vaping are a serious danger to the health of those doing it.
