Biography
Calvin Coolidge, know as Silent Cal, was the 30th President of the United States. He was known for wanting the business to boom in the United States and his Laissez-faire belief. He opposed government regulation with the economy. He was born in Plymouth, Vermont on July 4, 1872. His mother and sister both died when Calvin was a young boy. Attending Amherst Collage, he became interested in law and became an apprentice at an law firm, not able to afford law school. In the start of his climb in the political ladder he opened up is own law firm in Massachusetts in 1898. He then married Grace Goodhue in 1905. His next step up the political ladder was becoming the Governor of Massachusetts in 1906. In 1914, he gave a speech on his government philosophies and his popularity stated growing among the American people. In 1920, he was elected Vice President under Warren Harding. In 1923 Harding died, so Coolidge took office. Coolidge was elected for president in 1924 at age 52. In 1928 his son died and he decided not to run for office again. Coolidge passed away in 1933.

Impacts
Though Calvin Coolidge was a President that mostly relied on his cabinet and was a quiet and negative president, he still had major impacts on the 1920's. Coolidge majorly helped the roaring 2o's by allowing business to boom and making the government stay out of economy. A famous quote said by Coolidge was, "I want the American people to work less for the government and more for themselves." He also elected that the United States should stay out of the League of Nations, which was odd because the U.S is an major world power. He also supported the civil rights. He supported blacks, Native-Americans, and women.
