Student and Family Update
3/19/21
Dear Students and Families,
Tomorrow is the first day of Spring- we made it! I know the month of March can feel like the longest of the school year, but we are now more than halfway through! It has been awhile since we had a full day of school on a Wednesday, but the next two Wednesdays will be full days! This means that there will be clubs and class meetings happening along with your Wednesday activities. Please see below for the schedule.
Wednesday, March 24 is a full day of school. Below is the schedule:
Superintendent’s Award
We are pleased to announce that Amelie Rowehl (Class of 2021) has been awarded the Superintendent’s Award. We are incredibly proud of Amelie’s accomplishments! For more information on Amelie and this award, please read our press release.
National Honor Society members deliver bouquets to our Nurses
*Thank you to our thoughtful NHS students for helping to spread some cheer; to Roxanne Trombly creating the beautiful arrangements; and the Mary Lyon Foundation for their generous funding!
Nurse’s Office Update
Please click here for information on BinaxNOW COVID-19 antigen testing in school.
This testing will provide our students, staff, and schools with an additional layer of safety during the pandemic. BinaxNOW testing is an opt-in program which allows school nurses to conduct on-site rapid COVID-19 testing on students or staff who become symptomatic while at school. It's a quick, easy way for staff to determine if they are handling a COVID-19 case OR a routine cold/allergy/illness/etc. Important to note: If your child is NOT feeling well, please do not send them to school for testing. As part of our FAB FOUR, you know that staying home when you are unwell is one of our major mitigation strategies in keeping our school community healthy and safe. Additionally, BinaxNOW testing is reserved only for those who become ill while at school.
Youth Baseball Information For Middle School Students
The West County Mantle and Koufax baseball summer leagues are looking for players! If you are interested in playing this summer, please email Bob Hinds: rohinds@rcn.com The league coaches are trying to get an idea as to numbers and how they can coordinate with the Little League players/coaches. Thank you for reaching out to Bob!
Class of 2022 Fundraiser
We have the great opportunity to participate in the "Eversource, Change a Light, Change the World" online fundraiser. ALL (That's 100%!) of the money raised during the sales period will go to the class! And, the process is easy....
We would be so appreciative if you could take a look at the above link, and if you are able, to purchase some light bulbs, or better yet a Living Room Pack. You will see that there are really amazing deals. The price range is between $5.00 to $15.00.
When checking out PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sure to fill in the name of our school (Mohawk Trail Regional School) and the name of the student to which you are buying from. (The student will earn prizes for the most sold!) If you do not know a student in the class, just write Mohawk Trail Regional School again for the student name.

District Updates
We were excited to be the host site for the Mohawk Trail and Hawlemont district’s COVID-19 staff vaccine clinic on Monday, March 15. A big shout-out to all of our incredible health care heroes--our district nurses who help keep us healthy and safe! And to our district’s Nurse Leader Donna Weber, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) for their partnership and dedication to making vaccines available right here in Franklin County. They are greatly appreciated for all they do on behalf of our communities!
As we continue to move through these next phases in the Return to Learn plans (full in-person return), if you have not yet indicated how your child/ren will attend school for the remainder of the year (in-person or remote), please be in touch with your principal by Monday, March 22. It’s important for us to have an accurate count for our full in-person return planning. Thank you again for your time in completing our surveys; we know you’ve filled out so many this year, but your feedback is critical for our planning and next steps. THANK YOU!
And remember to check Superintendent Stanton’s weekly updates for important district information each Friday. Links to past editions can be found on the district website (under News and on our COVID-19 Information page) to keep you connected to all the news you need!
