Fifth Grade Special Edition
Dear 5th Grade Families
We are excited (and sad) to celebrate your child(ren)’s time at Kendall as their final school year as Patriots comes to an end. Please take the time to read this newsletter in its entirety so that you do not miss any important information.
5th Grade Celebration Ceremony
On Friday, June 4th, at 1:00 p.m., our 5th Graders will enjoy our 5th Grade Celebration Ceremony. Students will join together in the gym to hear from their teachers, celebrate our Patriot Citizenship Award Winners, and hear a final farewell from Mrs. Jerger. Remote students, parents, and extended family will be invited to livestream this event (details coming soon). Students will maintain 6 feet of physical distance during this assembly.
In-Person students will attend the ceremony in the gym with their class mates. Students will maintain 6 feet of physical distance during this assembly.
Remote students, parents, and extended family will be invited to livestream the event by using the following link: https://www.facebook.com/OJKLibrary/ You do not need a facebook account to view using this link. You simply click here, a few minutes prior to 1:00. When Mrs. Jenkins takes us "Live" at 1:00, a red box with LIVE in it will appear, click it, and you'll be all set!
5th Grade Clap-Off
At the end of the day on June 4th, our 5th Graders will participate in our Clap-Off ceremony. They will parade through the building, one last time, to the clapping and cheering from our younger students.
Students will exit Door #12 at 2:40 p.m. where 5th grade parents are invited to line both sides of the front side walk (3-6 feet apart and wearing masks) all the way to door #2. We ask parents to keep the Clap-Off going for students with clapping and cheering. PLEASE NOTE: No silly string, latex balloons, or confetti is permitted due to potential allergens.
5th Grade students will be released to parents outside at this time and families are asked to clear the area for our regular dismissal procedures to begin at 3:00. If you are not able to meet your 5th grader outside, please let their teacher know so that they can bring the students back inside to follow our traditional dismissal procedures.
5th Grade Rocks
On the last stretch of the 5th grade clap-off, students will leave their 5th GRADE ROCKS in our display case to be sure that a little piece of them stays at Kendall forever. Remote 5th graders who do not attend the Clap-Off event, we be provided the opportunity to place their 5th GRADE ROCKS when they drop off materials on Monday, June 7th.
