PTA needs your help!

Due to our current COVID guidelines, the PTA has been unable to grow our membership as we have traditionally done in the past. Our school benefits greatly from the PTA’s membership income each year.

Please consider joining our PTA for the 2020-2021 school year at for $10. Once at the website, click on the white “Join PTA” in the middle of the screen and then use the drop-down menus to find our school. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Free and Reduced Lunch Application

It is an unusual year due to coronavirus disruptions. Nevertheless, one thing has not changed, parents need to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. This is important data because it can impact school funding from federal grants. The Title 1 federal grant provides our school with funding for additional staff and resources needed to meet the needs of all of our students.

If you qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch, please assist our school in receiving the needed funding to meet the needs of all of our students by completing the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.

Toys For Tots

The best part about the holidays is giving!

Once again, we are hosting our Toys For Tots event at Boyd Elementary!! We love our kids and want to give them everything they want for that one special day, but there are so many children, even in our community whose parents must decide whether to put food on the table or a toy under the tree. So, when you’re shopping why not pick up a little something extra for someone in need.

Drop off boxes for unwrapped gifts are in the Front Office and the Front Foyer of the school. Deadline to bring in your donations is Friday, December 4th.

All Community Outreach (ACO) will be partnering with Toys for Tots to provide Holiday gifts to families in need. Please refer families to the ACO website to sign up.

The ACO is helping Toys for Tots to deliver toys to children in Allen & McKinney!

ACO will serve as the registration and distribution for Toys For Tots to children, ages 0-16, who live within the cities of ALLEN and MCKINNEY ONLY. For information on receiving toys in other areas, please visit

The deadline for registering to receive toys is Friday, 12/04/20. The distribution will be on Wednesday, 12/16/20 ONLY, at First United Methodist Church, 601 S. Greenville Ave., Allen TX 75002.

You will receive an email by Monday, 12/14/20 with your scheduled pickup time.
(In order to pick up your toys, please provide photo ID of the person completing the application.)

A SEPARATE form must be completed for EACH CHILD. You will receive an email of your sign-up information.

Parent, Student, & Teacher Compact

The compact is another word for “contract” or “agreement.” The Boyd Elementary Parent – Student – Teacher Compact is an agreement between parents, students, and the school (teachers and staff) to foster student achievement. Please read and complete the form below and let’s all take active roles in improving student academic achievement and in building and developing a partnership that will help children achieve success in school and in life.

Instructional Delivery Model Selection Dates

Allen ISD understands that families may want to change their instructional delivery model selection during the school year. Due to the scheduling complexities inherent in both At-Home Learning and In-Person Learning, parents are asked to make a commitment for at least one full nine-weeks grading period.

Please note that adjustments in instructional delivery model selections across the district may impact teacher assignments and student schedules.

Staff may need to shift to align with new instructional model choices. Therefore, even students who do not change instructional models could experience a change to their teacher(s), course availability or class schedule as teachers are assigned based on the numbers of students and course requests in each environment. Elementary students making changes to their instructional delivery model selection may not be guaranteed to be assigned to their home campus based on staffing and grade level seat availability.

The chart below outlines the timeframe for making a change in the selected instructional delivery model prior to the start of each new grading period. Parents wishing to change their child’s participation in either At-Home Learning or In-Person Learning for the next nine-weeks grading period will need to complete the Commitment Form. Information will be sent to all parents about the process to request a change. All changes will be effective on the first day of each new nine weeks grading period as listed below:

Allen STEAM Ambassadors (a student leadership program with a STEM/STEAM focus), provides a virtual tutoring service that was developed by the students in the program. The STEAM Ambassadors are top high school students that excel in science and math. The program was piloted a few weeks ago with 7th and 8th graders, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Starting tomorrow it will be open to students grades 5th -9th grades needing support in math and science. While it is not a replacement for tutoring with their teacher, some virtual students could benefit from this type of one-on-one virtual support.

Details on the program as well as the required forms/materials are included on the attached flyer.
