Reminders
Traffic Safety During the Morning Drop Off
We have been experiencing safety challenges in our parking lots in the morning, particularly in the front parking lot. We currently have two traffic lines that merge between Discovery High School and WHS. Please slow down and merge into one traffic lane in this parking lot between DHS and WHS so that students getting out of vehicles do not get struck by moving traffic.
8th Grade Parent Night
If you have an incoming 8th grader, or know someone who does, please encourage them to attend our 8th grade parent night this Thursday 1/27 at 6pm. We will meet in Bowers Gym for a welcome and then will have tables spread out around the gym with teachers, coaches, and club sponsors. Come learn about all the great things that WHS has to offer!
Scheduling Meetings for Students
Scheduling meetings will continue this week for sophomores and juniors. If any 10th-11th grader missed their meeting, the counselors will be doing make up appointments at the end of this week. Any 9th grader needing assistance, can reach out to their counselor via email to schedule a time to meet.
Each 10th and 11th grader will have a 5 minute appointment slot to meet with their counselor. The appointment times are posted in the hallways and in student's Schoology account. Students need to check their appointment time and should ask to leave class a few minutes before their appointment. (Passes will not be sent.)
Screener for Student Social, Academic, Emotional, and Behavioral Well-Being
Widefield School District 3 will be administering a universal screening tool that looks at student strengths and risk factors for social, academic, emotional, and behavioral well-being. The screener consists of a brief rating scale that will be administered three times per school year through a confidential online link to grades 4-12. The results of the screener will be reviewed by the building support team. Research shows that a student’s academic performance is intrinsically tied to their social-emotional functioning. This information will help us understand the needs of all of our students and make effective plans at the whole school, classroom, and individual level. Leveraging a whole-school approach to social-emotional learning supports students’ social, emotional, and academic needs. If you would like more information about the supports we have at our schools, please contact a member of our school team.
