Expectations and Responsibilities of Students
Our highest priority here at Scott is educational achievement and in order for that learning to occur students and staff need to feel safe and respected.
In our code of conduct it states,
All students are expected to:
- Support everyone's right to learn
- Choose ways to resolve conflict without fighting
- Accept others for who they are and respect differences
- Show proper respect for:
- Themselves
- Other students
- Adults
- School property
- Personal property
Student responsibilities include regular attendance, conscientious effort in classroom work and homework, and conformance to school rules.
No student has the right to interfere with the education of fellow students. It is the responsibility of each student to respect the rights of teachers, students, administrators and all others who are involved in the educational process.
Students should express their ideas and opinions in a respectful manner.
Students should exercise proper care when using public facilities and equipment.
Students should not use obscene language in student media or on school premises.
All staff and students at Scott have the right to feel safe and respected. We continue to reinforce our expectations for behavior and achievement while students are at the building. Please continue to discuss the expectations for success here at school with your student. I appreciate your support.
Student Responsibility for Chromebook
New chromebooks and chargers were distributed to all students at Scott.
If your student lost their chromebook, our technology department will be reaching out to you about the $240 fee to replace the chromebook.
If you have paid the TIF this year, it will carry over to this chromebook. If you have not yet paid the TIF for the school year, please do by clicking on this link. https://coatesvillearea.revtrak.net/casd-technology/
Please click on this link to sign the 1:1 agreement.
1:1 Student & Parent/Guardian Agreement (office.com)
As a reminder, this chromebook will be your student's responsibility until the end of 8th grade when it will be collected back. Although the chromebook is in your student's possession, please remember that it is school district property and should be treated responsibly. We will continue to teach our students the proper care for their technology. I appreciate your support in speaking with your child about treating the chromebook with care. (We already have students that have lost their new ones).
Acadience Benchmark Reports
Our Reading teachers will be having conferences this week with their students to discuss the progress made on our Winter benchmark testing. After the conference, teachers will give the students the report to take home. Please keep an eye out for the Acadience parent report. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your student's Reading teacher.

Nurse's Corner
Just a couple reminders to families:
- Students should not be contacting families to be picked up when they are not feeling well. Students need to be assessed by the nurse and calls home will be made as needed. If families want to be called each time their student comes to the nurse, please email Ann Keenan, school nurse (keenana@casdschools.org). It is not standard practice to call home for non-urgent matters.
- Emergency Health Forms were sent home last week (lime green). If you did not complete the Emergency Health Information online, you must complete the paperwork and return it to the school nurse.
- Covid 19 is still causing illness and absences. Please continue to test and take precautions to avoid further spread. 5 days of isolation followed by 5 days of well-fitting masks is the current CDC guideline. (see below).
- The school nurse will be starting health screenings (Vision, Growth and Scoliosis). If your student has glasses, please make sure they have them for school.

We have had a couple cases of head lice at Scott. Please read the attached letter for more information.
