Manning Morsels
Week of February 11th 2019- 21st Faculty Edition
Why no food/candy for Valentine's Day?
We make sure to provide a safe environment for all students including those with allergies. If any teacher finds food, he/she will send to the office for a parent to pick up. Thank you for your help with this.

Safety Updates as of January 9th 2019
Manning Families are reminded that Linden will only be allowed for :
Please do not park in the back lot to pick up your child at the end of the school day, please use the car line. Exiting the back parking lot onto Norfolk disrupts the loading of buses and our neighboring businesses do not want their parking lots used as a cut through to Cass Avenue.
Please do not avoid the car line and drop off your child at the corner of Linden and Norfolk or the back parking lot and have your student walk to the front entrance alone. It is safer to use the car line.
If there is a pick up/drop off during the school day, of any kind, please park in the back lot and walk around to the main entrance.
Beginning Wednesday, January 9, visitors will be asked to move their car if parked on Linden when it is closed during school day.
- Car Line Arrival and Dismissal
- 11:15 1/2 Day Kindergarten Dismissal
- Medical circumstance where the ramp is needed

Cold Weather Reminders
This is a friendly reminder to please send your children to school with proper winter clothing to go outside for recess. Minimally, this includes warm shoes and socks, pants that cover legs, a thick winter jacket, hats, and gloves. If students want to play in the areas we have snow, this requires boots and snow pants. We go outside when the windchill is 20 degrees or higher. Please help by sending your students to school prepared. It is a good idea to put your student's name or initials on their clothing.
It is also the cold and flu season. You must not send your children to school if they have a fever of 100 degrees or higher. They must be fever free (less than 100) for at least 24 hours. If your child is vomiting or has diarrhea, they must not be sent to school for at least 24 hours after their last episode.

How to Be a Manning Meteor
One of our main staples in each classroom that is established before any academic learning can take place is the social and emotional wellness of our students. Last year, we implemented the 2nd Step program with all students so that we can explicitly reinforce and teach concepts in this domain. Below are links to some resources where you can learn more about the program. It also connects with our "How to Be a Manning Meteor" matrix for students.
