MAP-Annual mid-year chance to celebrate learning

Children from 5K to grade four are experiencing their second chance to share their learning on the Measuring Academic Progress assessment. There are two content areas for them to work. Math and reading questions of many sorts are provided and the children do their best to select from multiple choices. We look forward to the results, which are almost immmediate to learn about their progress.

Kohls Wild makes a visit to grade 3

With the help of a grant, our third grade children learned about naturalist Aldo Leopold, through the help of actors from the Kohls Wild program. The children gathered together in the cafteria and enjoyed the play about conservation. You might want to learn more from them with a couple of good questions.

Getting into conferring

One of the most critical instructional parts of the readers and writers workshop program is the manner in which our teachers meet with the students 1:1, or in small groups. Here is a picture of Mrs. Lewandowski in our library with two of her boys in a conferring session. Following the sessions, the teachers may often take notes about how the child understands the mini-lesson which was provided earlier and these can be used for further instruction.

STEM-Science Technology Engineering Math through Project Lead the Way

Designing and understanding ramps and speed and distance is the focus of this science module in grade four. These students are working together in the cafeteria where there is more space to measure and experiment.

We are going to build a wall of design and fun.

Lego Walls

Speaking of indoor recess time, as well as other times during our day, we are looking to create maker spaces at both the Primary and Intermediate Schools. One component of these maker spaces is a Lego Wall. We are looking for donations of Legos, and not new Lego sets but Legos you might not be using any more. Thanks for your consideration!
