Happy New Year
If you have been around Hedden over the past few years you know that I love to point out the transition to more and more daylight each day. While it is just incremental gain of just a minute or two per day, which is hard to notice on a daily basis, it gives me a boost of energy to know that we gain a whole hour of daylight by the end of the month. Hopefully that added daylight equates to added sunshine too, unless of course it snows, which would be great too;-)
As we close in on the end of the month, we also near the halfway point in the school year which means staff are working on mid-year progress reports for students. Teachers will be taking half the day on January 20th to start the process of entering student data and comments. We'll look to have progress reports finalized and ready to be sent home in students backpacks at the beginning of February as we move into second semester. Here is some information to help navigate and understand the progress report and the changes we have made as district this year.
Please continue to take a look at the information and resources below including the upcoming events and dates for your calendar.
Kind regards,
Don Sims
Principal Hedden Elementary
P.S. Keep encouraging kiddos to read at home, whether on their own or with others;-)
*~* Hedden's PTO Coming Events *~*
Hedden and Discovery PTO’s will be hosting “Winter Around the World” on Thursday, January 19th. This event is open to all and will be at Surprise Lake Middle School from 5:30 until 7:00 pm.
Students will have an opportunity to learn about the different cultures and family traditions in our community. For this event, each child will be given a passport and travel from booth to booth, learning about their fellow students' winter family traditions and culture.

-=-=-=- Hedden Food & Hygiene Drive -=-=-=-
Hedden will be collecting canned and boxed food along with any hygiene items at the end of the month. We are partnering with a local food bank, Feeding Feasible Feasts, to help distribute your donations to those in need throughout our community. Be on the lookout for this flyer and send your student(s) with any donations beginning January 23rd.
Thanks in advance for your support or both Hedden and our community as a whole!
