History
Steamboats became popular in the United States of America in 1787. John Fitch made the first working steamboat which was 45 feet. In front of the Constitutional Convention down the Delaware River. He later built one that carried passengers.
Advantages/Disadvantages
Advantages
The steamboat was growing in popularity all over the U.S. Steamboats soon became the best way to transport goods, which boost the economy.
Advantages
The steamboat had advances in speed and upstream transport.
Disadvantages
In order for steamboats to travel the river easier, rivers were widened and deepened, killing trees.
