Eastridge's Weekly Update for Students and Caregivers

Week of January 15, 2020

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

MSD Warren Township will honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by observing the holiday on Monday, January 18th with no school. With that said, we still have so much to learn as a society and there is great work still to be done.

Want to learn more as a family? Here is a great kid-friendly site: Civil Rights for Kids. It explains what civil rights means and has live links to kid friendly biographies of Civil Rights leaders. It also has links to related topics (Little Rock Nine, Jim Crow Laws, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil War, Montgomery Bus Boycott, March on Washington, a Civil Rights Timeline, etc.)

Want to learn more about Dr. King? Here's a great video story of a children's biography. Here's also a video from.

Important Dates

January 18th

  • No School - Celebrate the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King

January 19th

  • Welcome Back - Q3 In-person instruction begins

Back to School

As we prepare for receiving students back to in-person instruction and transitioning students to 100% virtual, you may see changes appear in your ParentVue (Synergy) and your student’s Canvas account. Some possible changes might be seeing a new teacher’s name appear on your student’s schedule or a new classroom dashboard tile in Canvas. Do not be alarmed by these changes. Once your student begins their new schedule on January 19th, you will see their accurate placement and correct teacher connections with Canvas and digital curriculum.

Also, remember when we return in person, students should bring their learning materials, iPad, and charger back to school. We will use these in class!

Finally, if your child will remain fully virtual for the rest of the school year, we have learning materials for you! Please come to Eastridge between 9:00-3:00 any school day for those items.
